# SHOULD YOU USE A TRAVELING HAIL REPAIR COMPANY IN PHOENIX?

Quick Answer

Only if it passes the same tests you’d give any shop. After a big storm, out-of-state crews arrive within days. Some do good work, and some leave with your insurance money and no one to call. Ask four questions: Where is your shop? Are your prices written down? Who honors the warranty next year? Will you show me the estimate you send my insurer? If someone signed you up at your front door, Arizona’s home solicitation law (A.R.S. § 44-5004) generally gives you until midnight of the third business day to cancel in writing. You choose the shop either way (A.R.S. § 20-468).

## THE QUESTIONS THAT SORT THEM OUT

Where is your shop? A parking-lot tent can do paintless dent repair, but it can’t handle a panel that needs paint, and it won’t be there in March. A street address and a phone number that still works next season matter more than the price this week.

Are your prices written down? Published prices protect you from a number that changes once your car is in someone’s hands. Ours are $75–$200 per dent for small cash jobs (dents up to about half-dollar size; larger ones priced after inspection), $750–$1,500 for light damage on one or two panels, and $5,000–$12,000 for a typical full-vehicle claim.

Who honors the warranty? A lifetime warranty is only as good as the company behind it. Ask whose name is on it and where you’d take the car if a dent comes back.

Will you show me the estimate? The biggest storm-chaser risk is a padded bill. Some crews promise to “waive” your deductible and then inflate the estimate so your insurer pays it. That’s a false claim under Arizona’s fraud statute, A.R.S. § 20-463, and you don’t want your name on it. An honest shop shows you the estimate it sends your insurer.

If you already signed at the door. Arizona’s home solicitation law covers sales solicited at your home without your invitation. Under A.R.S. § 44-5004, you can generally cancel before midnight of the third business day after the sale by sending a signed, written notice to the seller. Keep a copy. If you think a seller misled you, the Arizona Attorney General takes consumer complaints at [azag.gov](https://www.azag.gov/complaints/consumer). This is general information, not legal advice.

We’re not from Phoenix originally either; our first shop has been in Lewisville, Texas since 1978. So hold us to the same four questions. Our [hail scam guide](https://dgcollision.com/guides/how-to-spot-hail-scams/) covers more warning signs.

## ASKED ALONGSIDE THIS ONE

**Q: Are traveling hail repair companies legit?**

A: Some are skilled paintless dent technicians who follow storms for a living. Others aren’t. Judge each one by its address, written prices, warranty and willingness to show you the estimate.

**Q: Can I cancel a hail repair contract I signed at my door?**

A: Generally, yes. Arizona’s home solicitation law, A.R.S. § 44-5004, lets you cancel before midnight of the third business day after the sale, by written notice to the seller.

**Q: Is it legal for a shop to waive my deductible?**

A: It depends on the bill. A discount from the shop’s own margin on an honest invoice is different from padding the estimate so the insurer pays it, which A.R.S. § 20-463 treats as a false claim.

**Q: What’s different about DG Collision Center?**

A: A real shop at 649 W Hatcher Rd, published prices, a written lifetime warranty from a company in business since 1978, and a deductible offer up to $2,000 on qualifying claims, written on the estimate and billed honestly.
