# HAIL DAMAGE REPAIR — AUBREY & PILOT POINT, TX

Out here the hail travels like the traffic does: up US 377. On the corridor’s big nights the federal log reads like mile markers — Aubrey at 3:07 AM, Krugerville at 3:23; Aubrey at 1:05 AM, Pilot Point at 1:30; one November storm dropping five pins in 48 minutes between the two towns. Golf balls have hit the corridor three times, and one 2023 stone fell two hours after Sanger — west along FM 455 — photographed one of the region’s two five-inch giants. When a cell finds the highway, every town on it gets a turn. Published PDR pricing, claims billed direct, free loaners, free ranch-gate pickup across 76227 and 76258.

TL;DR

The Aubrey–Pilot Point corridor — Aubrey, Krugerville, Cross Roads, Providence Village and Pilot Point, strung along US 377 north of the 380 boom — has logged 10 days of inch-plus hail since 2015, and the storms show a signature habit: they take the highway. DFW cells tend to travel northeast, 377 runs the same way, so one storm rakes the towns in sequence — quarters in Aubrey at 3:07 AM and Krugerville at 3:23 on June 6, 2018; half-dollars walking five pins from Aubrey to the FM 1385 side between 7:50 and 8:38 PM on November 10, 2021; Aubrey at 1:05 AM and Pilot Point at 1:30 on May 16, 2022. Golf balls have landed three times — Pilot Point in March 2017 and at 12:09 AM on June 16, 2023 (two hours after Sanger, west along FM 455, photographed a five-inch stone, one of the two largest in the regional record), and Aubrey at 10:28 PM on April 8, 2024. Since then the corridor has run quiet: nothing at the inch line in 2025 or so far in 2026, and we’d rather tell you that than manufacture urgency. We’re 30–40 minutes down 377 and I-35E, with free ranch-gate pickup across 76227 and 76258. Published pricing (light hail $750–$1,500, typical full-vehicle claim $2,500–$8,000), direct billing, and the first $1,000 of the deductible covered on qualifying hail claims.

- The hail takes the highway: three separate storms walked US 377 town by town, minutes apart — if Aubrey’s clock read 1:05, Pilot Point’s read 1:30.

- Three golf-ball nights: 2017, 2023 and 2024 — and the 2023 one shared its night with Sanger’s five-inch giant.

- Quiet since May 2024: stated plainly — a quiet stretch is history, not a forecast.

- Ranch-gate pickup: drivable trucks collected from the gate across 76227 & 76258, loaner left in their place.

## OUT HERE, THE HAIL TAKES THE HIGHWAY

North Texas storms travel with a habit of northeast, and between Aubrey and Pilot Point, US 377 runs the very same bearing — so when a hail core finds the corridor, the log doesn’t record an event, it records an itinerary. June 6, 2018: a trained spotter logs quarters in Aubrey at 3:07 AM; sixteen minutes later Krugerville’s emergency manager logs the same stones two miles up the road. November 10, 2021: half-dollars northeast of Aubrey at 7:50 PM, Krugerville at 8:16, again at 8:19 and 8:32, and hail falling along FM 1385 by 8:38 — five pins in 48 minutes, walking the highway north on a November evening. May 16, 2022: Aubrey at 1:05 AM, five miles east at 1:18, quarters in Pilot Point by 1:30. The log even has a row for the space between the towns: an amateur-radio entry from April 2018 pinned, in the operator’s own words, “between Aubrey and Pilot Point.”

That pattern is worth money when you file. A corridor claim isn’t really about which town’s name got the pin — it’s about where on the highway your truck sat, and when the cell passed that spot. A Providence Village driveway and a Pilot Point square parking spot can carry the same date of loss with clocks 25 minutes apart, and an adjuster who only skims the town names will miss yours entirely: Cross Roads and Paloma Creek have never had their own pin, yet sit dead center on the track every one of these storms followed. We write corridor estimates with the full sequence attached — the timeline above, your location on it, and the panel map that agrees with both.

2017 · 2023 · 2024

## THREE GOLF-BALL NIGHTS — AND THE GIANT NEXT DOOR

The corridor’s heavy entries are all 1.75-inch — golf balls — and all after dark. March 26, 2017, 9:05 PM: an amateur-radio operator logs golf balls in Pilot Point, ping-pong stones five minutes behind them. April 8, 2024, 10:28 PM: golf balls in Aubrey, the corridor’s newest heavy entry. And June 16, 2023, 12:09 AM: golf balls in Pilot Point again — on a night the region will remember for something bigger. Two hours earlier and west along FM 455, Sanger photographed a 5-to-5.5-inch stone, one of only two five-inch entries in the entire regional record our [hail-season data guide](https://dgcollision.com/guides/dfw-hail-season/) compiles. The same overnight system worked both towns; Pilot Point’s share arrived at midnight, golf-ball sized, and plenty.

One more date deserves its asterisk: March 24, 2019, when ping-pong hail hit Providence Village’s Creekside blocks off FM 2931 at 6:15 PM. That was the evening the metro’s storm of the decade ran east of here — the night [McKinney’s corridor](https://dgcollision.com/hail-damage-repair-mckinney/) took the 4.50-inch stone that still tops every table we publish. Golf-ball-and-up hail cracks glass and creases body lines; if a truck was outdoors on any of these dated nights and never got read under proper light, the dents are still there, and so is the claim — late discovery is normal out here, and carriers know it.

The Public Record

## THE CORRIDOR’S RECORD — 1″+ DAYS SINCE 2015

Each row is a National Weather Service local storm report filed under Aubrey’s or Pilot Point’s name or logged within five miles of Aubrey — a stretch that carries Krugerville, Cross Roads, Providence Village, Lincoln Park and the Paloma Creek and Sandbrock Ranch blocks. Ranch country files fewer reports than suburbia: what reached the log is what somebody stopped to measure, usually a spotter or a ham operator, and the quiet stretches between pins say more about population than about weather.

Date (local) Largest logged stone What the NWS log says

May 9, 2024 1.00″ — quarter Amateur radio reports quarters in Pilot Point at 2:39 PM — the corridor’s most recent inch-plus entry

April 8, 2024 1.75″ — golf ball Golf balls in Aubrey at 10:28 PM — the newest of the three heavy nights

June 16, 2023 1.75″ — golf ball A ham operator’s golf-ball entry in Pilot Point at 12:09 AM — two hours after Sanger, west on FM 455, photographed one of the regional record’s two five-inch stones

May 16, 2022 1.25″ — half dollar The 1 AM walk: 1.25″ in Aubrey at 1:05, an inch five miles east at 1:18, quarters in Pilot Point at 1:30

Nov 10, 2021 1.25″ — half dollar Five pins in 48 minutes: half-dollars NNE of Aubrey 7:50 PM, Krugerville 8:16, 8:19 and 8:32, hail along FM 1385 at 8:38 — a November storm walking the highway

March 19, 2020 1.00″ — quarter Quarters a mile southwest of Aubrey, 4:53 PM

March 24, 2019 1.50″ — ping pong Ping-pong hail in Providence Village’s Creekside blocks off FM 2931, 6:15 PM — the evening McKinney’s 4.50″ giant fell east of here

June 6, 2018 1.00″ — quarter The overnight outbreak’s northern reach: a trained spotter’s quarters in Aubrey at 3:07 AM, Krugerville’s EM at 3:23

April 13, 2018 1.00″ — quarter The row that names the road itself: an amateur-radio entry at 5:16 PM pinned “between Aubrey and Pilot Point”

March 26, 2017 1.75″ — golf ball Golf balls in Pilot Point at 9:05 PM, ping-pong at 9:10 — the corridor’s first heavy night on the modern record

Ten rows, three golf-ball nights, and three storms that walked the highway. Since May 2024 the corridor has stayed under the inch line — the only 2026 entry near Aubrey is a 0.88-inch report from a May afternoon, below the severe threshold, and no inch-plus hail has been logged here so far in 2026. A quiet stretch is history, not a forecast. The [Little Elm page](https://dgcollision.com/hail-damage-repair-little-elm/) covers the lake towns south of the 380 line, the [Denton page](https://dgcollision.com/hail-damage-repair-denton/) the county seat’s own giants, and the [season data guide](https://dgcollision.com/guides/dfw-hail-season/) the month-by-month math behind all of it.

Published Numbers

## WHAT HAIL REPAIR COSTS FOR AUBREY & PILOT POINT

One published table on every DG page — the same numbers in town and out past the cattle guards. Depth in the [DFW hail cost guide](https://dgcollision.com/guides/hail-damage-repair-cost-dfw/); a fast number from the [estimator](https://dgcollision.com/repair-cost-estimator/).

Damage level Published range Notes

Single dents (cash PDR) $50–$150 per dent Plus R&I trim labor when access needs trim or a panel off

Light — 1–2 panels $750–$1,500 The corridor’s quarter class — hood and roof, shallow

Deep dents on 1–2 panels $1,500–$4,000 The golf-ball class of the three heavy nights

Several panels, clear coat intact $2,000–$5,000 A truck topside peppered end to end, paint holding

Several panels, deep or cracked paint $5,000–$10,000+ PDR plus refinish where the heavy stones hit square

Typical full-vehicle claim $2,500–$8,000 Where most carrier-paid hail claims settle

Full vehicle, dense but clear $5,000–$9,000 Roof, hood, deck lid and both bodysides

Full vehicle, deep / glass / cracked paint $7,500–$15,000+ Glass and refinish join the PDR — the five-inch neighbor’s class

This is truck country, and truck panels change technique, not tables: [the F-150 hail page](https://dgcollision.com/f150-hail-damage-repair/) covers why aluminum work-hardens under a chaser’s rushed pull, and [the Silverado & Sierra page](https://dgcollision.com/silverado-sierra-hail-damage-repair/) maps the two-metal 2019+ bodies panel by panel. On a hard-worked older ranch truck, dense hail can brush Texas’s 100%-of-value total-loss line — [the will-it-total guide](https://dgcollision.com/guides/will-hail-damage-total-my-car/) runs that math honestly — and [the liability-only guide](https://dgcollision.com/guides/liability-only-car-damage-texas/) prices the cash path for the truck that carries liability only. Per-panel PDR-or-refinish calls are explained in [the PDR guide](https://dgcollision.com/guides/pdr-vs-body-shop/).

After The Storm

## THE TENTS FOLLOW THE ROOFTOPS — AND THE ROOFTOPS ARE NEW HERE

The 380 corridor is one of the fastest-growing patches of Texas, and storm canvassers read building permits the way we read the hail log: thousands of new households in Providence Village, Paloma Creek, Sandbrock Ranch and Silverado, many on their first Texas hail season, most with two trucks in the drive. After any metro storm — including ones that never touched this corridor — the yard signs and door hangers arrive on schedule. And a corridor that’s been quiet since 2024 is actually the richer target: nobody up here can check a fresh pitch against a fresh storm, so “last week’s hail” goes unchallenged.

Hold every offer to the calendar test: ask for the exact date of the hail, then look it up — the table above is the record, and it’s public. Then run the rest of the pitch through [the nine tells in our hail-scams guide](https://dgcollision.com/guides/how-to-spot-hail-scams/), statute by statute. The short version of Texas law: a contract signed at your home or gate can be canceled until midnight of the third business day; a contractor is forbidden from acting as your claim negotiator; and a deductible made to “disappear” inside a padded estimate is insurance fraud under Tex. Penal Code §35.02 — with your signature on the paperwork, not the tent’s. The honest alternative is printed on our estimates: [the first $1,000 of qualifying hail-claim deductibles covered](https://dgcollision.com/deductible-assistance/), out of our margin, carrier billed straight.

The Insurance Side

## A CORRIDOR CLAIM, DONE RIGHT FROM THE GATE

Hail is a comprehensive claim — no fault, no points, nothing on a driving record — and the law travels the full length of 377: Tex. Ins. Code §1952.301 puts the choice of shop with you, which matters out here because a carrier’s “nearest network facility” suggestion usually means a 40-minute tow to somewhere you didn’t pick. You’re allowed to choose the shop that already knows the corridor’s storm dates. 28 TAC §5.7016 bars nonrenewal of a personal auto policy solely over weather claims; what premiums actually do afterward is covered honestly in the [rates guide](https://dgcollision.com/guides/hail-claim-insurance-rates/).

The sequence: you open the claim — [the step-by-step guide](https://dgcollision.com/guides/texas-hail-insurance-claim/) walks it — and we take it from there: pickup at the gate, teardown under proper light, direct carrier billing, and [supplements](https://dgcollision.com/guides/insurance-estimate-final/) argued with photographs; in our [2026 State Farm files](https://dgcollision.com/guides/state-farm-claims-shop-report/), every hail claim needed at least one. You pay [the deductible once](https://dgcollision.com/guides/do-i-have-to-pay-my-deductible/) — first $1,000 covered on qualifying hail claims — and keep moving in a [free loaner from the 50+ fleet](https://dgcollision.com/free-loaner-cars/) while the truck’s on our floor. Trailers, toppers and aftermarket racks are documented in the same file, because a corridor claim that forgets the gooseneck hitch guard isn’t finished.

## AUBREY & PILOT POINT → DG COLLISION

The road the storms take north is the road that brings the truck south: US 377 through Denton, then I-35E south to the Main Street exit in Lewisville — 693 Metro Park Cir, Lewisville, TX 75057, about 30–40 minutes from either town square. From Providence Village or Paloma Creek, FM 2931 to 380 and down 35E runs about the same. Open Mon–Fri 8:30–5:30, Sat 10–1. Deer strikes, trailer dings and the rest of rural bodywork live on the [Aubrey–Pilot Point collision page](https://dgcollision.com/collision-repair-aubrey-pilot-point/).

Or don’t make the drive at all. Both 76227 and 76258 sit well inside our 75-mile free pickup radius: for any drivable vehicle we come to the gate, the driveway or the barn lot, leave a [loaner from the 50+ fleet](https://dgcollision.com/free-loaner-cars/) — no deposit, no mileage cap — and handle the claim by phone while the truck rides down on our schedule, not yours. Start with a photo texted to (817) 907-2822 — two of those photos have saved two round trips more times than we can count.

Aubrey & Pilot Point Hail Questions

## AUBREY–PILOT POINT HAIL REPAIR FAQ

**Q: Was there hail in Aubrey or Pilot Point in 2026?**

A: Nothing at the one-inch severe line. The only 2026 entry near Aubrey is a 0.88-inch report — nickel class — from an afternoon in mid-May, and no inch-plus hail has been logged on the corridor so far in 2026. In fact, the record has been quiet since May 9, 2024. We’d rather say that plainly than manufacture a storm: a quiet stretch is history, not a forecast, and the three golf-ball nights on the table above all arrived without an appointment.

**Q: Why do the storm reports here march up US 377 town by town?**

A: Two habits lining up. North Texas storm cells most often travel toward the northeast, and US 377 between Aubrey and Pilot Point runs close to that same bearing — so a hail core that finds the corridor tends to pass over Aubrey, Krugerville, Cross Roads and Pilot Point in sequence, minutes apart. The log shows it three separate times: June 2018 (Aubrey 3:07 AM, Krugerville 3:23), November 2021 (five pins in 48 minutes), May 2022 (Aubrey 1:05 AM, Pilot Point 1:30). It’s a tendency, not a law of physics — but when you’re pinning down a date of loss, knowing the corridor moves as one storm track is half the work.

**Q: What’s the biggest hail ever logged on the corridor?**

A: Golf balls — 1.75 inches — three times: Pilot Point at 9:05 PM on March 26, 2017; Pilot Point again at 12:09 AM on June 16, 2023; and Aubrey at 10:28 PM on April 8, 2024. The 2023 entry has the heavyweight footnote: about two hours earlier the same overnight system, Sanger — west along FM 455 — photographed a 5-to-5.5-inch stone, one of only two five-inch entries in the entire regional record. Golf-ball hail cracks windshields and creases body lines, so any truck that sat out on those dates deserves a proper raking-light read, even years later.

**Q: My town never shows up in the reports — Cross Roads, Paloma Creek, Sandbrock Ranch. Can I still file?**

A: Yes. A storm report is a witness pin, not a boundary — and the corridor’s newer subdivisions sit dead center on the track that every logged storm here followed. Texas comprehensive claims need a date of loss, which carriers verify against regional reports, radar and the damage itself. When we write a corridor estimate we attach the sequence: the dated pins north and south of you, your spot on the highway between them, and the panel map that matches. That’s a stronger file than a town name in a log would be.

**Q: What does hail repair cost for Aubrey and Pilot Point?**

A: The published table, identical on every DG page: light hail on one or two panels, $750–$1,500; deep dents on a panel or two, $1,500–$4,000; several panels with paint intact, $2,000–$5,000; the typical full-vehicle carrier claim, $2,500–$8,000; severe damage with cracked paint or glass, $7,500–$15,000+. Cash PDR runs $50–$150 per dent plus R&I trim labor where access needs disassembly. Truck aluminum takes longer to work than steel — technique, not surcharge — and on qualifying hail claims the first $1,000 of the deductible is covered, printed on the estimate.

**Q: Do you really pick up 40 minutes out — at a ranch gate?**

A: Yes — both zips sit well inside our 75-mile free pickup radius, and the vehicle just needs to be drivable. We collect at the gate, the driveway or the barn lot anywhere in 76227 or 76258, leave a free loaner from the 50+ fleet in its place, and return the finished truck the same way. Trailers and toppers can ride along for documentation if the claim touches them. The estimate itself happens on our floor under proper lights — a corridor pickup is exactly why the shop runs a truck fleet of its own.

**Q: Will a hail claim raise my rates or cost me my policy?**

A: The policy itself is protected by rule: 28 TAC §5.7016 bars a carrier from refusing to renew a personal auto policy solely over weather claims, and hail is comprehensive — fault-free, off the driving record. Premiums carry no such lock, so the honest answer is they can move — though most of what rural Denton County feels after a storm year is county-wide repricing that lands on everyone, claim or no claim. The rates guide walks through the real levers. (General information, not legal advice.)
