# DFW COLLISION & HAIL REPAIR COST ESTIMATOR

Answer five quick questions and get an honest repair cost range in about 30 seconds — no phone number required to see your number. Every range comes straight from the cost tables we publish on this site and write against real DFW jobs: collision work from $300 minor repairs to $18,000+ rebuilds, hail from $750 light damage to $15,000+ severe. It’s a range, not a quote — but it’s the same math our estimators start from, and it tells you instantly whether a claim makes sense.

TL;DR

This free tool estimates DFW auto body repair costs from DG Collision’s published price tables — no contact info required. Typical ranges: minor dents and scratches $300–$800; bumper replacement and paint $1,000–$2,500; fender or door repair $1,500–$3,800; major collision with frame work $3,000–$10,000+; light hail $750–$1,500; a typical full-vehicle DFW hail claim $2,500–$8,000; severe hail $5,000–$15,000+. With insurance, your real out-of-pocket is capped at your deductible — often $0 on hail claims with deductible assistance.

- It’s a range, not a quote: hidden damage found at teardown moves real numbers — that’s what supplements are for, and your maximum stays your deductible on a covered claim.

- Every number is published: the tool only shows ranges from the cost tables on our collision, paint, frame and hail pages — nothing invented, nothing hidden.

- Insurance flips the math: the range decides whether to file; once you file, the deductible — not the range — is what you pay.

## WHERE THESE NUMBERS COME FROM

Every range this tool shows is a row from a price table we already publish and stand behind: the collision table on our [collision repair page](https://dgcollision.com/services/collision-repair/), the refinish table on the [paint page](https://dgcollision.com/services/paint-refinishing/), the structural table on the [frame straightening page](https://dgcollision.com/services/frame-straightening/), and the hail tiers in our [DFW hail cost guide](https://dgcollision.com/guides/hail-damage-repair-cost-dfw/). The tool doesn’t invent numbers, apply secret multipliers, or lowball to get you in the door — it just matches your answers to the published row that fits, the same way our estimators triage a walk-in before the detailed teardown.

Why ranges instead of a number? Because two dented doors that look identical from six feet can be $1,600 apart once you know whether the inner structure caught the hit, whether the crease crossed a body line, and whether the paint is a three-stage pearl that needs blending into two adjacent panels. The written estimate — free, about 15 minutes — is where the range collapses to a number. And when that sheet is in your hand, our [estimate-reading guide](https://dgcollision.com/guides/how-to-read-a-repair-estimate/) decodes every line of it. What we can promise at the range stage: honest tables, the same for everyone, published where you can check them.

## WHAT MOVES YOUR NUMBER UP OR DOWN

Up: hidden damage behind the panel (absorbers, brackets, sensors), structural involvement you can’t see from outside, three-stage and tinted-clearcoat paints that require blending adjacent panels, aluminum panels on 2015+ trucks, and ADAS sensors that need recalibration after body work. None of that is a surprise cost trick — on an insurance claim it’s handled by a [supplement](https://dgcollision.com/guides/insurance-estimate-final/) your shop files with photos, and your deductible stays your maximum.

Down: damage that looks dramatic but stayed cosmetic (scuffs transfer paint that compounds right off), dents with intact paint that qualify for [PDR instead of paint work](https://dgcollision.com/guides/pdr-vs-body-shop/), and aftermarket-OEM parts on older vehicles where they’re the smart-money call. It’s also why “my neighbor paid half that” and “the dealer quoted double” can both be true — the details decide.

And the number that matters most: if you’re insured, the estimate range mostly answers one question — is this comfortably above your deductible? If yes, the claim usually wins, your out-of-pocket caps at the deductible, and on hail we typically absorb even that. If the range straddles your deductible, get the free written estimate before filing anything — that’s exactly the decision it exists for. The full claim-or-cash framework — claim types, the CLUE record, and the one case where you always call your carrier — is in our [file-or-pay guide](https://dgcollision.com/guides/file-claim-or-pay-out-of-pocket/).

Estimator Questions

## FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

**Q: How accurate is this estimator?**

A: It’s honest triage, not a quote. The ranges are the same published tables our estimators start from, and most finished jobs land inside them — but hidden damage, paint complexity and parts availability decide where in the range a real repair falls. The free written estimate at our shop is what turns the range into a number.

**Q: Why do you show a range instead of an exact price?**

A: Because an exact price without a teardown would be a guess dressed up as precision. Two visually identical dents can differ by over a thousand dollars once inner structure, body lines and paint type are known. Anyone who gives you a firm number from a web form is either padding it heavily or planning to change it later.

**Q: Do I have to enter my phone number to see my range?**

A: No. The range shows instantly with no contact info — that’s the point of the tool. The estimate form afterward is optional, for when you want the number in writing or want us to start a claim with your carrier.

**Q: If I have insurance, do I actually pay these amounts?**

A: No — on a covered claim your out-of-pocket is capped at your deductible regardless of what the repair totals. The range mostly answers whether filing makes sense. On hail claims we go further: with deductible assistance, most customers pay $0 out of pocket on a 100% honest invoice.

**Q: Should I pay cash or file a claim?**

A: Compare the range to your deductible. Comfortably above it: the claim usually wins. At or below it: cash usually wins and keeps a claim off your record. Close call: get the free written estimate first — and note a single hail claim typically doesn’t raise your individual rate, since it’s comprehensive and not-at-fault.

**Q: Why do luxury vehicles and trucks trend toward the top of the range?**

A: Luxury and EV repairs involve OEM-only parts, premium paint systems and camera/sensor recalibration after body work. Aluminum-bodied trucks — every 2015+ F-150 — take more technician time per dent because the alloy work-hardens. Same published range, honest expectation about where in it you’ll land.

**Q: What’s a supplement, and will my number change after I file?**

A: A supplement is the insurance industry’s built-in mechanism for damage discovered at teardown — the shop documents it with photos, the insurer pays the difference, and your deductible remains your maximum. The first estimate is a starting point by design, not a final bill.

**Q: Is the written estimate really free?**

A: Yes — free, in writing, about 15 minutes at 693 Metro Park Cir #20 in Lewisville, no appointment needed. It’s free whether or not you repair with us, and whether or not you file a claim. Texas law (Tex. Ins. Code §1952.301) makes the shop choice yours either way.
