Yes, hail hit the Glendale area on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Between 3:25 and 3:34 PM the National Weather Service logged four hail reports along the Glendale and Peoria line: 1.00-inch hail near Cactus Road at about 35th Avenue and again near 51st Avenue, 1.25-inch hail near Thunderbird Road in the 40s avenues, and a 2-inch stone near Peoria Avenue and 35th Avenue by Metrocenter, the largest of the day anywhere in the Valley. The NWS names these reports after Glendale and Peoria as reference points; the pins themselves sit between roughly 35th and 51st Avenues, where Phoenix, Glendale and Peoria meet. DG Collision Center repairs the damage at 649 W Hatcher Rd in north Phoenix, a few miles east. For qualifying claims we cover the deductible up to $2,000 depending on the damage, pickup and drop-off are free, and the line at (602) 935-6008 takes calls and texts 24/7.

NWS Phoenix, October 21
THE GLENDALE AND PEORIA LINE: FIVE REPORTS IN NINE MINUTES
These are the reports the National Weather Service office in Phoenix logged on the west side of the October 21 storm. We’ve added the nearest major cross streets from each report’s coordinates. Those coordinates are rounded to about half a mile, so read every location as “roughly near.”
The storm built over this stretch first. The two quarter-size reports at 3:25 PM are the earliest hail of the afternoon, and over the next twenty minutes the storm pushed northeast through Moon Valley and Deer Valley. Our north Phoenix page covers that part, and the full two-day log is on the October 20–21 Phoenix storm page.
Not Sure If The Hail Reached Your Street?
Your car will tell you faster than the map. Text photos of the hood and roof to (602) 935-6008 and we’ll tell you what we see. If the repair is worth doing, we pick the car up anywhere in Glendale or Peoria for free.
Reading The Log Honestly
“4 NE GLENDALE” ISN’T AN ADDRESS
The NWS doesn’t log hail by city limits. Each report gets a distance and direction from a fixed reference point, and “Glendale” and “Peoria” are two of those points. “4 NE Glendale” means about four miles northeast of that point. In this case that puts the day’s biggest stone near Peoria Avenue and 35th Avenue, an area most people would call Metrocenter, on the Phoenix side of the line.
That matters in two ways. If you live in Glendale proper and assumed the headline 2-inch report landed on your street, it may not have. The reports cluster east of 51st Avenue, and we haven’t seen a logged report from the older neighborhoods around downtown Glendale. The other side cuts the same way: these are point reports from people who stopped to measure, so a street with no pin can still have been hit. Hail falls in a swath, and five reports in nine minutes means a lot of ground in between.
For a claim, your insurer cares about the date and the damage, not which town’s name is on the report. If your car was parked anywhere between Camelback and Thunderbird, west of I-17, on Wednesday afternoon, check it. If you find dents, the date of loss is October 21, 2026.
What To Look For
QUARTERS TO A 2-INCH STONE: WHAT EACH SIZE DOES
Quarter-size (1.00″), along Cactus Road. Expect shallow, round dents on the flat panels: hood, roof and trunk lid. They’re easy to miss in midday sun. Look along the panel from a low angle early in the morning or under a garage light, and you’ll see the reflection ripple at each dent. These are usually clean paintless dent repair jobs.
Walnut-size (1.25″), near Thunderbird. Deeper dents, closer together, and the first real risk to roof rails, mirror caps and plastic trim. Check the top edges of the doors and the window moldings too.
2-inch stones, around Metrocenter. Hail this size can crack paint on the crown of a hood or roof, chip glass and break lamp lenses. Look for spiderweb lines in the clear coat, not just dents. Cracked panels need conventional repair rather than PDR, and the estimate should say which panels fall in which group before anything is filed.
The 60 mph gust near Camelback is a wind report, not hail. If a branch or debris hit your car in that wind, that’s storm damage too, and it usually falls under the same comprehensive coverage. Confirm with your carrier.
