Yes, it hailed in Mesa on Tuesday night, October 20, 2026. The National Weather Service logged seven hail reports across Chandler, Gilbert and Mesa between 10:05 and 10:25 PM. The largest was a pile of 1 to 2-inch stones photographed in northeast Mesa, roughly near Gilbert Road and Brown Road, at 10:25 PM. Earlier, quarter-size hail fell near Baseline and Dobson and at Arizona Avenue and Elliot Road in Chandler. Because the storm hit after dark, many drivers found the damage the next morning; the date of loss is still October 20. This was a separate storm from the October 21 hail in north Phoenix. DG Collision Center repairs the damage at 649 W Hatcher Rd in Phoenix, picks up and drops off for free anywhere in the East Valley, and for qualifying claims covers the deductible up to $2,000 depending on the damage. Call or text (602) 935-6008, 24/7.

NWS Phoenix, October 20
TWENTY MINUTES ACROSS THE EAST VALLEY
The storm moved north and east, from west Chandler into Mesa, in about twenty minutes. Here is every report the National Weather Service logged along the way. The cross streets come from each report’s rounded coordinates or, where the spotter named one, from the report itself.
The heaviest hail came at the end. Northeast Mesa went from a measured 1-inch stone to a pile of stones up to 2 inches in three minutes. If you park near Gilbert and Brown, that’s the report to take seriously. The full log for both days is on our October 20–21 Phoenix storm page.
Found Dents This Morning? Start With A Text.
Text photos to (602) 935-6008, any hour. We’ll tell you whether it looks like Tuesday’s hail and what it likely runs. If it’s worth repairing, we pick the car up in Mesa, Gilbert or Chandler for free and bring it back done.
After Dark
FOUND THE DENTS WEDNESDAY? THE DATE IS STILL TUESDAY
A storm at 10 PM on a weeknight means most cars were in driveways and apartment lots, and most owners were inside. Many drivers found out the next morning, walking out to a hood that looked like a golf ball. Write down the right date when you call your carrier. The date of loss is when the hail fell, Tuesday, October 20, 2026, not when you noticed it.
Getting the date right matters more than usual this week, because a second storm hit the other side of the Valley the next afternoon. An adjuster who sees a Mesa address and a Wednesday date may check it against the wrong storm. Put October 20 on the claim, and if you’re not sure which night your car was hit, tell the carrier exactly where it was parked each night.
Night hail also hides itself. In headlights or a porch light, shallow dents vanish into the reflection. Check again in early morning light, looking down the hood and roof from a low angle, or text us photos and we’ll tell you what we see.
East Valley Commuters
HIT IN MESA TUESDAY, AT WORK IN NORTH PHOENIX WEDNESDAY?
A lot of East Valley drivers commute across the Valley. A car parked at home in Mesa on Tuesday night may have been in a lot along I-17 on Wednesday afternoon, when the north Phoenix storm hit between 3:25 and 4:05 PM. That car could have been hailed twice, on two different dates.
If that’s you, tell your carrier about both dates and where the car was each time. How your policy treats two storms, including whether it counts as one claim or two, is the carrier’s call, and policies differ. What we can do is document the damage carefully and keep the paperwork straight for the adjuster. Our north Phoenix page maps the Wednesday reports.
