PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR IN PHOENIX: HAIL DENTS OUT, FACTORY PAINT KEPT
Paintless dent repair (PDR) pushes hail dents out from behind the panel, so your factory paint never gets sanded, filled or resprayed. It’s how we fix most of the hail damage from the October 20–21, 2026 Phoenix storms at our four-bay shop, 11035 N Cave Creek Rd. Small cash jobs run $75–$200 per dent. On insurance claims, you pay $0 out of pocket on qualifying claims: we cover the first $1,000 of your deductible. Call or text (602) 935-6008, 24/7.
Paintless dent repair removes hail dents by working the metal back into shape from behind the panel, with no sanding, filler or repaint, so the factory finish stays intact. It works when the paint isn’t cracked and the metal isn’t stretched or creased; panels with cracked paint need conventional repair instead. DG Collision Center does PDR at its four-bay Phoenix shop, 11035 N Cave Creek Rd, for damage from the October 20–21, 2026 storms. Small cash jobs are $75–$200 per dent, for dents up to about half-dollar size; larger dents are priced after inspection, and any trim removal is quoted first. On insurance claims, you pay $0 out of pocket on qualifying claims: insurance pays the repair and we cover the first $1,000 of your deductible (above $1,000, case by case, and we do our best). Call or text (602) 935-6008, 24/7.
- Best for: hail dents and dings where the paint held.
- Not for: cracked paint, sharp creases, dents on a panel edge, or areas with old body filler.
- Keeps: your factory paint, which protects resale value.
- Your right: Arizona law (A.R.S. § 20-468) lets you choose any repair shop.
The Technique
HOW HAIL DENTS COME OUT WITHOUT PAINT
Steel and aluminum body panels have a kind of memory. When a hailstone pushes a dent into a hood, the metal around it is bent, not removed. A PDR technician gets behind the panel with steel rods and picks, then pushes the dent out in small, controlled moves until the surface is flat again.
To see what they’re doing, technicians work under a striped light board. The stripes reflect across the panel, and every dent bends them. When the reflection runs straight, the dent is gone. That’s also how we count dents: under the lights, every one is marked before work starts, and the count goes on the estimate.
Getting behind a panel sometimes means removing parts. On a roof, that can mean lowering the headliner; on a hood, the insulation pad; on a door, a trim panel. That removal and reinstallation work is part of the job, and we quote it before we start.
Will PDR Work On Your Car?
Text three photos to (602) 935-6008: the hood, the roof, and one low-angle close-up. We’ll tell you whether the dents look like PDR work or need paint, and roughly what it runs.
An Honest Read
WHEN PDR WORKS, AND WHEN IT DOESN’T
It works when the paint held. Most quarter-size and walnut-size hail, like the reports along Cactus Road and Thunderbird Road on October 21, leaves round dents with the paint intact. That’s PDR’s sweet spot.
It doesn’t work on cracked paint. The 2-inch stones reported near Metrocenter and in northeast Mesa can crack the clear coat on the crown of a hood or roof. Pushing the metal back won’t fix cracked paint, so those panels need conventional repair and refinishing. The estimate should mark which panels go which way.
It struggles with sharp creases, panel edges and old filler. A dent with a sharp crease has stretched the metal. A dent right on a panel edge has no room to work. And an area someone repaired before with body filler won’t move like factory metal. We’ll tell you up front if any of those apply.
Aluminum panels take more care. Many trucks and newer cars use aluminum hoods and doors. Aluminum work-hardens as it’s pushed, so it’s repaired more slowly and with more patience than steel. It’s still PDR; it just takes longer.
