But the same driveway is where storm-chaser operations pitch their tents, and Texas law treats that setting specially for a reason: a contract signed away from the merchant’s own place of business carries a three-business-day cancellation right the seller must disclose in writing (Bus. & Com. Second, the adjusting line: Occupations Code §4102.163 bars a repairer from acting as an adjuster on the vehicle it repairs — anyone offering to “handle the whole claim for you” is describing something Texas prohibits. Third, geography: ask where they’ll be in six months when a repair needs a second look — a truthful answer names a fixed local address; an evasive one names the next storm.
