ROOT HAIL CLAIM IN PHOENIX? WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
File in the Root app or online, add photos, and use the storm date: October 20, 2026 for the East Valley, October 21 for north Phoenix and Glendale. First check that your policy has comprehensive coverage, because Root says it’s optional and hail falls under it. Root’s claims page then says it looks at the damage, you "may receive a check or electronic payment," and you "pick your favorite shop to repair your vehicle." So there’s no network to work through, but finding a shop is on you. Arizona law (A.R.S. § 20-468) backs that choice. Qualifying Root hail claims at DG Collision Center’s Phoenix shop are $0 out of pocket: Root pays the repair, we cover the first $1,000 of your deductible, and you drive a free loaner.
The Longer Answer
ROOT’S STEPS, AND WHAT THEY MEAN FOR HAIL
Root’s page also suggests the Automotive Service Excellence site for finding shops. That’s a start, and it’s worth asking any shop whether it does paintless dent repair, because hail is specialized work.
WHEN THE PAYMENT DOESN’T COVER WHAT’S ON THE CAR
That’s usually a documentation gap. We count the dents under PDR lights, panel by panel, and send your adjuster a supplement with photos for what the first estimate missed. Roof dents often need the headliner lowered too, and that labor gets added. You open the claim; we handle the repair-side paperwork.
The Arizona rules still apply to an app. A.A.C. R20-6-801(H)(5) requires an insurer’s estimate to be an amount that can reasonably be expected to repair the car properly, with a copy to you. Reductions for depreciation must be itemized in dollars under (H)(6).
Liability only? Then hail on your own car isn’t covered. Small jobs can still make sense in cash: $75–$200 per dent for dents up to about half-dollar size; larger ones are priced after inspection.
Your costs. On qualifying claims from the October 20–21 storms, we cover the first $1,000 of your deductible; above that, case by case, and we do our best. One of our 30+ Phoenix loaners is yours during the repair: Root is billed if your policy has rental coverage, and if not, it’s still free. More on our hail repair in Phoenix page.
