INSURANCE TOLD YOU TO FIND YOUR OWN HAIL REPAIR SHOP?
That’s normal, and it works in your favor. Arizona law, A.R.S. § 20-468, gives you the right to choose any repair facility, so many insurers write the estimate and leave the shop up to you. It doesn’t mean you’re on your own or that the claim is stalled. Pick a shop with a real address, written prices and a warranty, then send them your estimate and claim number. The shop counts the dents, sends your adjuster anything the estimate missed, and schedules the work. Text your estimate to (602) 935-6008 and our Phoenix shop can take it from there: qualifying claims are $0 out of pocket, and you drive a free loaner.
The Longer Answer
WHAT YOUR INSURER ACTUALLY MEANT
The estimate and the repair are separate steps. Your insurer’s job is to look at the damage and say what it will pay. Who does the work is your decision. When an adjuster says "take it to whoever you like," they’re describing your right, not brushing you off.
It’s still the insurer’s claim to pay. Under A.A.C. R20-6-801(H)(5), the estimate must be an amount that can reasonably be expected to repair the car properly. Choosing your own shop doesn’t change your coverage or your deductible.
Some insurers mention a network anyway. Those shops are an option. Under § 20-468, an insurer that suggests a shop also has to tell you about your right to choose.
WHAT TO DO THIS WEEK
1. Find your estimate and claim number. They’re usually in your insurer’s app or email.
2. Narrow it to shops that answer these. Where’s your shop? Will you put the price in writing? Who stands behind the work next year? Do you count dents under PDR lights? Our guide to choosing a hail repair shop has the full list.
3. Send it over. Text a photo of the estimate and a few pictures of the car. A count under lights often finds more than a photo estimate did; when it does, the shop sends your adjuster a supplement with photos.
4. Get your ride sorted. We pick up free across the Valley and you keep one of our 30+ Phoenix loaners for the length of the repair. On qualifying claims from the October 20–21, 2026 storms we cover the first $1,000 of your deductible; above that, case by case, and we do our best. See how hail repair in Phoenix works with us.
