Some employ genuinely skilled techs. The structural problem isn’t skill, it’s accountability: a warranty is a promise attached to an address, and by the time paint cracks or a glued tab lets go next summer, the tent is working a storm in another state. Two specific cautions, both Texas-legal, both from watching this cycle repeat every season. First: any offer to “cover” or “waive” your deductible by inflating the claim is insurance fraud under Texas Penal Code §35.02 — the customer whose name is on the claim carries the risk, not the tent. Second: door-to-door canvassers who ask you to sign paperwork on the spot are asking you to assign rights in your claim before an estimate exists. The Insurance Side

Texas Insurance Code §1952.301 puts the choice of repair shop with you; an insurer can suggest its network, but suggestion is the ceiling. And 28 TAC §5.7016 bars carriers from refusing to renew your personal auto policy solely because of weather-related claims — there’s no statute capping premium changes, and we won’t pretend otherwise, but the nonrenewal fear that keeps Frisco drivers from filing legitimate hail claims is answered by a specific regulation.
