Stones that size don’t dimple — they crater hoods, crack glass and break paint, and they do it in the dark, to cars whose owners found out at sunrise.

Two paperwork points follow. First, the date: the storm everyone watched on the evening of April 25 did this damage after midnight on April 26 — writing the 25th on a claim is the one-day slip that stalls it, exactly the trap the outbreak’s own page documents. A year on, that damage is still claimable: Texas policies ask for “prompt” notice rather than setting a deadline, adjusters look harder at late claims, and what carries the conversation is documentation — the date sits in the federal record, and an estimate mapped against it does the arguing.
