A single “Fort Worth hail” page would have to average the whole city — storms that hammered Alliance while the west side stayed dry, Wedgwood nights that never touched Saginaw — and an average is a poor tool for deciding whether your hood took stones on a specific date. So we publish by ring, and this ring is the west side’s: White Settlement and Benbrook anchoring it, the enclave towns of Westover Hills and Westworth Village inside it, and the Fort Worth neighborhoods stitched between — a patchwork the storm log itself names street by street. October 10, 2019 — And April 25, 2026

THE RECORD FELL IN AUTUMN — AND THE NEWEST BARRAGE JUST HAPPENED

Most rings save their giants for spring. The west side’s biggest stone waited for football season: on October 10, 2019, a storm spotter measured 2.5-inch hail in White Settlement at I-820 at 7:10 PM, and two minutes later a social-media photo confirmed three inches — the ring’s all-time record, landing five weeks into fall. October has hit twice since: ping-pong stones west of White Settlement on October 4, 2023, the same evening Irving logged its own fall entry. A west-sider who stops watching the sky after Labor Day is watching the wrong calendar.

And the record book’s newest heavy chapter is months old, not years. On the night of April 25, 2026 — the opening night of the metro’s April outbreak — the ring absorbed a 46-minute barrage: twenty-two reports between 10:30 and 11:16 PM, climbing from quarters through golf balls to a 2.75-inch social-media photo west of White Settlement at 10:51, a 2.50 south of town at 10:59, two-inch stones north of Benbrook at 11:15 and a 2.25 by Westover Hills at 11:16. The same night dropped the Parker County corridor’s record stone twenty-five miles west. Cars that sat out that Saturday night carry its signature whether anyone has looked yet or not — and on September 11, 2026, quarters crossed northeast Benbrook to add the year’s second entry. Both claims are wide open.

Each row is a National Weather Service local storm report filed under a west-side town’s name — White Settlement, Benbrook, Westover Hills, Westworth Village — or logged within five miles of the ring’s center between them. Fort Worth’s own west-side neighborhoods ride the same circle, which is why the third column keeps naming their streets.

After The Storm

THE WEST SIDE HAS SEEN THIS MOVIE SINCE 2016

A ring that’s taken two-inch hail four separate times trains its canvassers well. White Settlement and Benbrook get the full post-storm treatment — the folding tables outside the grocery stores on Cherry Lane and Benbrook Boulevard, the door circuit through the neighborhoods off Las Vegas Trail, the yard signs that sprout along Camp Bowie within a week of any metro storm. After this April’s 46-minute barrage the circuit ran hotter than it had in years, and it produced the usual paperwork: contracts ahead of estimates, “insurance specialists” offering to run your claim, deductibles that supposedly evaporate.

Texas already wrote the counters into law, and our hail-scams guide pairs each of its nine tells with the statute behind it. Worth carrying in your head: the home-solicitation rule gives you until midnight of the third business day to un-sign anything signed at your door, a repair contractor who negotiates your claim is breaking the public-adjuster law no matter what the flyer says, and an estimate padded to “erase” a deductible is a Tex. Penal Code §35.02 fraud committed on your policy. Hail lives under comprehensive coverage — the no-fault half of a policy, the half that never touches a driving record — and the two statutes that matter here are short. Tex. Ins. Code §1952.301: the repair shop is the policyholder’s pick, full stop, however far from the damage it sits. 28 TAC §5.7016: a weather claim alone can’t cost you renewal. What the statutes can’t do is write your estimate honestly — that’s shop discipline, and on two-inch-class storms like this ring keeps producing, the money hides in the second look: seals, moldings, roof rails, the deck lid’s trailing edge.
