And the interstates thread through everything: I-20 at 360 in the ring’s very first row, I-20 at Collins, I-30 at Fielder three separate times, I-30 at the Bush Turnpike on the Grand Prairie seam.

That pattern isn’t a coincidence — it’s Arlington. Millions of visits a year flow through the entertainment district, the mall corridors and the campus, and every one of them ends in an open-air parking space. Hail here has a habit of catching cars away from home: at a game, a concert, a shift, a lecture — places with acres of uncovered asphalt and no garage to run to. Two things follow. Four dates carry the ring’s heavy metal. March 17, 2016 came at breakfast: ping-pong stones at Earle and Perkins at 7:35 AM, tennis-ball hail three miles west at 7:38, an NWS employee’s golf balls in south Arlington, quarters along I-20 at Collins — a full barrage inside twenty-five minutes, aimed at the morning commute. June 6, 2018 came in the dark: the Parks Mall ping-pong at 2:47 AM, tennis-ball hail two miles east of the city center at 2:54, two-inch stones “just before 3 AM” in the log’s own words — Arlington’s share of the overnight outbreak that hit half the metroplex. May 27, 2024 was the crown: a twelve-report evening building from quarters to golf balls to a 3.25-inch “Baseball+” mPING entry at 7:43 PM, two-inch hail at 8:13, and the stadium pin in between. And June 1, 2025 put a hen-egg stone near Collins and Mayfield at 7:41 PM, inside a ten-report half hour.

Then there’s the row that’s barely history yet: on the afternoon of September 11, 2026, video showed golf-ball hail falling on Canyon Creek Drive in south Arlington, with tree limbs and power lines down and half-dollar photos minutes later toward Matlock at Eden — the Mansfield side of that afternoon lives on the Mansfield page. A storm that recent means undocumented damage is still sitting on hoods across the south side; a raking-light check now beats an inspector’s discovery at trade-in later.

Each row is a National Weather Service local storm report filed under Arlington’s name, logged within five miles of the city’s center — a ring that swallows Pantego and Dalworthington Gardens whole and touches the Grand Prairie seam east — or, because Arlington’s ninety-nine square miles outrun any five-mile circle, placed inside the city by the log’s own words: Cooper at Hardisty, “south arlington,” Canyon Creek Drive. Even with that allowance the south side is underrepresented — pins mark witnesses, and witnesses cluster where the crowds are.
