HAIL DAMAGE REPAIR — MANSFIELD, TX

On the night of June 12, 2023, in the space of seventeen minutes, the storm log filed baseballs, a measured four-inch stone, and then the entry that stands above every other: a photographed five-inch hailstone, one mile north-northeast of Mansfield — one of only two five-inch reports in the entire regional record. The record hasn’t retired since: two-inch hail broke skylights in 2024, golf balls fell at 5 AM in 2025, and the ring’s newest entry landed on September 11, 2026, near Matlock and Eden. This is the heaviest table we publish, and it belongs to Mansfield. Published PDR pricing, claims billed direct, free loaners, free pickup AND redelivery across 76063 — the 45 minutes to our floor is our problem, not yours.

TL;DR

Mansfield holds the heaviest hail record of the twenty-nine communities we publish. Of only two five-inch hailstones in the entire regional log since 2015, one fell a mile north-northeast of Mansfield at 10:33 PM on June 12, 2023 — inside a seventeen-minute barrage that also filed four separate baseball reports, a measured 4.00-inch photo, and a tennis ball on the Grand Prairie seam. The ring’s 14 inch-plus days since 2015 keep no season: quarters fell two days after Christmas 2015, on a January evening in 2017, and on a December morning in 2022; golf balls arrived at five in the morning twice — April 2020 and March 2025; two-inch stones broke skylights and attic vents in May 2024 by the log’s own account; and the newest entry is September 11, 2026 — quarter-to-half-dollar hail photographed near Matlock Road at Eden Road, with golf balls on video just north of the ring the same afternoon. That 2026 storm is the freshest claim window on any page we publish: if your car sat outside that Friday afternoon, the damage is documentable right now. Mansfield sits 45–55 minutes from our Lewisville floor, and that distance is our job, not yours: free pickup and redelivery for any drivable vehicle across 76063, with a free loaner from our 50+ fleet the whole time. Published pricing (light hail $750–$1,500, typical full-vehicle claim $2,500–$8,000), direct carrier billing, and the first $1,000 of the deductible covered on qualifying hail claims.

  • The record stone fell here: 5.00″, one of two in the whole regional log — photographed June 12, 2023.
  • The newest entry is fresh: September 11, 2026, near Matlock & Eden — a live claim window, not history.
  • No calendar manners: December, January, July and September entries — this ring hails in every season.
  • Distance handled: free pickup and redelivery across 76063, free loaner throughout — you never make the drive.

SEVENTEEN MINUTES THAT SET THE REGIONAL RECORD

Read the log’s timestamps and the night reconstructs itself. 10:32 PM: a social-media photo of baseball-size hail, a mile northwest of Mansfield. 10:32 again: a measured four-inch stone, photographed. 10:33: half-dollars two miles northeast, baseballs three miles out — and then the entry that made this ring famous in our dataset: a broadcast partner’s photo of hail that measured five inches, one mile north-northeast of Mansfield. Golf balls at 10:35. Baseballs east of town at 10:35 and 10:36. A tennis ball on the Grand Prairie seam at 10:49. Seventeen minutes, ten qualifying reports, four of them baseball or bigger.

Only one other five-inch stone exists in the regional record our hail-season data guide compiles — at Sanger, three nights later, in the same extraordinary June. Stones that size don’t dent cars; they hole them: shattered glass, cratered hoods, headliner-deep damage on anything caught square. But the honest reading of that night matters just as much for everyone who wasn’t under the core: a five-inch report two miles from your driveway usually means golf-ball-class hail on your own panels — severe, claimable, and very repairable. The swath is always wider than its biggest stone, and the pins below mark where witnesses stood, not where the hail stopped.

THE RECORD DIDN’T RETIRE — IT KEPT FILING

A year after the giant, on May 27, 2024, the ring took a sixteen-report evening whose delayed entries read like an insurance file: 2.10-inch hail photographed in Mansfield, and a public report of two-inch stones with the log’s own damage note — “damage to fences. Skylights, windows, and attic vents broken.” Hail that breaks a skylight breaks a windshield; that evening’s claims ran to glass, not just dents. Ten months later, on March 8, 2025, golf balls fell at five in the morning — filed twice, an hour apart, as delayed reports trickled in from a city that had been asleep — with quarters over the Rendon seam. That June, ping-pong hail crossed the Kennedale seam on the first of the month.

And the newest line in the table is barely cold: on the afternoon of September 11, 2026, social-media photos put quarter-to-half-dollar hail near Matlock Road at Eden Road on the ring’s north side, minutes after golf balls were videoed just beyond it in south Arlington — the Arlington page carries that half of the afternoon. That storm is the ring’s only entry so far in 2026, and it makes this the freshest claim window on any page we publish: damage from that afternoon is still sitting undocumented on hoods all over north Mansfield, and a comprehensive claim doesn’t expire because you discovered the dents late.

The Public Record

MANSFIELD’S HAIL RECORD — 1″+ DAYS SINCE 2015

Each row is a National Weather Service local storm report filed under Mansfield’s name or logged within five miles of the city center — a ring that reaches the Rendon and Kennedale seams west, south Arlington north, and the Mira Lagos edge of Grand Prairie northeast. Notice the dates as much as the sizes: this ring files entries in December, January, July and September, seasons most of the metro’s tables never touch.

Fourteen rows, four seasons, one giant. The Arlington page tells the north side of the shared storms; the Grand Prairie page owns the Mira Lagos seam’s own midnight record; the month-by-month math behind every row lives in the DFW hail-season data guide, built from the same federal log.

The Insurance Side

A MANSFIELD CLAIM — WITHOUT THE MANSFIELD DRIVE

The law doesn’t shrink with distance. Hail is a comprehensive claim — no fault, nothing on a driving record — and Tex. Ins. Code §1952.301 says the shop is your choice, not your carrier’s, whether that shop is across the street or forty-five minutes up I-35E. That choice matters in a city with a record like this one: heavy-stone claims are where supplements decide the outcome, because the first estimate prices what’s visible and a two-inch storm hides damage in glass seals, roof rails and panel edges. We photograph the dent map under raking light against the dated rows above, bill the carrier directly, and argue the supplements with pictures — in our 2026 State Farm files, every hail claim needed at least one. 28 TAC §5.7016 bars nonrenewal over weather claims; the rates guide tells the honest premium story.

And the drive never happens on your calendar. You open the claim (the step-by-step guide covers it), we collect the car from your driveway or workplace anywhere in 76063, leave a free loaner from the 50+ fleet in its place — no deposit, no mileage cap, no rental counter — and redeliver the finished car with its claim file in the seat. You pay the deductible once, with the first $1,000 covered on qualifying hail claims. Everything between pickup and redelivery happens by phone and photo while you go on living in Mansfield.

Published Numbers

WHAT HAIL REPAIR COSTS FOR MANSFIELD

One published table on every DG page — a record-setting ring gets the same numbers as everyone else. Depth in the DFW hail cost guide; a fast number from the estimator.

Damage levelPublished rangeNotes
Single dents (cash PDR)$50–$150 per dentPlus R&I trim labor when access needs trim or a panel off
Light — 1–2 panels$750–$1,500The December-quarters class — shallow and paint-safe
Deep dents on 1–2 panels$1,500–$4,000The 5 AM golf-ball class of 2020 and 2025
Several panels, clear coat intact$2,000–$5,000A truck topside peppered end to end
Several panels, deep or cracked paint$5,000–$10,000+The skylight-breaking class of May 2024
Typical full-vehicle claim$2,500–$8,000Where most carrier-paid hail claims settle
Full vehicle, dense but clear$5,000–$9,000Roof, hood, deck lid and both bodysides
Full vehicle, deep / glass / cracked paint$7,500–$15,000+The record night’s class — glass and refinish join the PDR

A heavy-stone ring makes the total-loss question real: on an older vehicle, baseball-class hail can cross Texas’s 100%-of-value line, and the will-it-total guide runs that arithmetic before your carrier does. Mansfield is truck country at its edges — the F-150 hail page covers work-hardening aluminum, the Silverado & Sierra page the 2019+ two-metal bodies — and the PDR guide explains the per-panel repair-or-refinish call. For the paid-off car carrying liability only, the liability-only guide prices the cash path honestly.

After The Storm

A FAMOUS RECORD DRAWS A CROWD OF CLIPBOARDS

Mansfield’s five-inch night made the news, and news makes canvassers. A city with a headline record gets the heaviest post-storm door-knocking in the county — and the pitch here doesn’t even need to lie about the weather, so it lies about everything else: the “insurance-approved” badge no Texas law recognizes, the signature-before-estimate clipboard, the offer to “handle your claim” that Tex. Occupations Code §4102.163 flatly forbids a repair contractor to perform, and the promise to “eat” your deductible inside a padded estimate — insurance fraud under Tex. Penal Code §35.02, filed under your name, not theirs.

Run every offer through the nine tells in our hail-scams guide before anything gets signed — in a city whose record is this famous, the tell to watch is the crew that quotes the five-inch night at a house the storm barely brushed; the dated table above says which blocks took what. Texas gives you until midnight of the third business day to cancel a contract signed at your home. The honest version of deductible help is printed on our estimates instead: the first $1,000 of qualifying hail-claim deductibles covered, funded from our margin, carrier billed straight.

Mansfield Hail Questions

MANSFIELD HAIL REPAIR FAQ

Was there hail in Mansfield in 2026?+
Yes — and recently. On the afternoon of September 11, 2026, social-media photos documented quarter-to-half-dollar hail near Matlock Road at Eden Road on the ring’s north side, and video showed golf-ball hail on Canyon Creek Drive just beyond it in south Arlington, with tree limbs and power lines down. It’s the ring’s only entry so far in 2026 and the newest row on any table we publish. If your car was outdoors that afternoon anywhere in north Mansfield, a raking-light check is worth five minutes — half-dollar hail dents hoods and roofs reliably, and the claim window is wide open.
How big was the biggest hail ever recorded in Mansfield?+
Five inches — photographed a mile north-northeast of Mansfield at 10:33 PM on June 12, 2023, and passed to the National Weather Service by a broadcast partner. It’s one of only two five-inch entries in the entire regional record since 2015 (the other fell at Sanger three nights later), and it arrived inside a seventeen-minute barrage that also produced a measured four-inch stone, four separate baseball reports, and a tennis ball on the Grand Prairie seam. No other community we publish carries a heavier table.
My car was outside on the record night. Would I know by now if it was damaged?+
Not necessarily. The five-inch core cut a narrow path — cars under it lost glass and knew immediately — but the storm’s wider swath dropped golf-ball and half-dollar hail that leaves shallow dents easy to miss on a light-colored car parked in shade. We still find 2023 damage on Mansfield trades and lease returns: dents discovered at resale or turn-in, priced against the owner instead of the carrier. A comprehensive claim doesn’t expire because you found the damage late; the date of loss is the storm’s date, and the log above fixes it. A five-minute raking-light read settles it for free.
The May 2024 storm broke skylights — what does that size hail do to a car?+
The log’s own remark for that evening reads “damage to fences. Skylights, windows, and attic vents broken” — and hail that breaks building glass breaks automotive glass. Two-inch stones crater panels past the reach of pure PDR, crack windshields and can split clear coat, which is why that class lands in the $7,500–$15,000+ row of the published table: paintless repair where the metal allows, refinish where it doesn’t, glass coordinated inside the same comprehensive claim. One storm, one claim, one deductible — with the first $1,000 covered on qualifying hail claims.
What does hail repair cost in Mansfield?+
The published table, identical on every DG page: light hail on one or two panels, $750–$1,500; deep dents on a panel or two, $1,500–$4,000; several panels with paint intact, $2,000–$5,000; the typical full-vehicle carrier claim, $2,500–$8,000; severe damage with cracked paint or glass — the record night’s class — $7,500–$15,000+. Cash PDR runs $50–$150 per dent plus R&I trim labor where access needs disassembly. On qualifying hail claims the first $1,000 of the deductible is covered, printed on the estimate, billed honestly.
You’re 45 minutes away. How does the repair actually work from Mansfield?+
You never make the drive. Text photos first for a free read; when the claim is on, we collect the car from your driveway or workplace anywhere in 76063 — Mansfield sits well inside our 75-mile free pickup radius for drivable vehicles — and leave a free loaner from our 50+ fleet in its place, no deposit, no mileage cap, no rental counter. The estimate happens under proper lights on our floor, the adjuster correspondence and supplements run by phone and photo, and the finished car comes back to the same spot with its documentation. Pickup, loaner and redelivery all ride free with the repair.
With a record like this, will a hail claim wreck my rates or my policy?+
The policy is protected by rule: 28 TAC §5.7016 bars a carrier from refusing to renew a personal auto policy solely over weather claims, and hail is comprehensive — no fault, nothing on your record. Premiums are the honest gray area: they can move, but what Mansfield drivers mostly feel after years like 2023 is territory-wide repricing that lands on every policy in the ZIP, claim or no claim — which is exactly why skipping a legitimate claim rarely saves money. The rates guide separates the real levers from the folklore. (General information, not legal advice.)
