Nobody builds pages for towns this size — which is exactly why this one exists. Corinth, Lake Dallas, Hickory Creek and Shady Shores hold maybe forty thousand people between them on the lake’s north shore, and their shared five-mile ring has taken hail that would headline a city ten times bigger: a 2.75-inch baseball a mile north of Corinth in April 2016, the 4.25-inch giant of March 2017, 2.75 inches in Lake Dallas the same night, two-inch hail logged in Hickory Creek in March 2024, and quarters over Shady Shores as recently as June 2025. All four towns appear in the federal log by name. All four are on this page by design.

The other thing the four towns share is us. THE CORINTH LINE NIGHT, TOLD FROM HOME

Four of our city pages cite this stone from a distance — Denton’s calls it the 4.25-incher “on Denton’s south line near Corinth.” Here’s where it actually landed. At 8:06 PM on March 26, 2017, ham operators logged 2.75-inch hail in Corinth. Two minutes later came the giant: 4.25 inches, two miles north of Corinth — bigger than a softball, and to this day topped on our city tables only by McKinney’s 4.50″ entry, with Flower Mound’s Cross Timbers stone its only equal. At 8:17, golf balls reached Lake Dallas; at 8:18, tennis-ball hail was back over Corinth; and at 8:51 a trained spotter measured 2.75 inches in Lake Dallas. Forty-five minutes, and every one of the four towns’ rooftops under it somewhere.

And it wasn’t a one-off: the spring before, on April 11, 2016, a baseball-size stone fell a mile north of Corinth at 5:30 PM. Two baseball-class springs in a row is the kind of record that permanently changes what “probably fine” means for a car that lives outdoors here — stones that size crack glass and break paint, and the repairs they left ran from clean PDR to full combination work. The Public Record

THE LAKE CITIES’ HAIL RECORD — 1″+ DAYS SINCE 2015

Each row is a National Weather Service local storm report logged in one of the four towns or within five miles of the Corinth center — a ring that runs from Denton’s south side to the lake, with Copper Canyon and the Highland Village shore on its western arc. Point reports mark witnesses: a pin near Copper Canyon doesn’t convict a Shady Shores driveway, and a quiet lakeside street can be hit with no entry at all. Dates and sizes are what the log fixes — and this ring’s dates include some of the metro’s heaviest.

Twelve rows — and the honest coda: nothing at an inch or larger has been logged in the ring so far in 2026, and 2025’s entries stayed at quarter size. That’s luck, not a trend, on a ring with two baseball springs and a four-and-a-quarter in its ledger. After The Storm

SMALL TOWNS GET THE LEFTOVER CREWS

The traveling hail circuit works the big cities first — after a verified storm, the polished crews take Denton and Flower Mound, and the Lake Cities get whoever’s left: the second-string canvassers with the vaguest paperwork and the shortest timelines. Small towns also get less follow-up scrutiny, which is precisely why the nine checks in our hail-scams guide matter more here, not less — each one anchored to the Texas statute that exposes it, from the signature-before-estimate to the “we’ll handle your claim” promise the law forbids a contractor to keep.

The two doorstep rules hold on a quiet lake street exactly as on a city corner: any contract signed at your home can be canceled until midnight of the third business day, and a deductible “absorbed” through a padded estimate is insurance fraud under Tex. The rules are the same in a town of four thousand as in a city of a million. Hail is comprehensive — no fault, nothing on your record. Tex. Ins.
