HAIL DAMAGE REPAIR — SOUTHLAKE, TX

Southlake’s hail runs quarter to half-dollar — the ring’s giants fall on the Keller side — but on this town’s driveways small stones write big numbers: an aluminum Range Rover hood, a Denali roof, a leased G-Wagen at turn-in. Fifteen days of inch-plus hail since 2015 per the NWS log, three ring days in 2026 already — including half-dollar hail photographed in Southlake on April 28. Quarter hail is real money here. Published PDR pricing, claims billed direct, free loaners, free pickup across 76092.

TL;DR

Southlake’s five-mile ring has logged 15 days of inch-plus hail since 2015 — and 2026 already owns three of them: half-dollar hail photographed in Southlake on April 28 during the four-day outbreak, a 2:16 AM quarter round on the Grapevine seam May 23, and quarters along Hwy 114 on June 2. The town’s own stones run quarter to half-dollar; the ring’s heavyweights — the 2.50″ of April 2021, the measured 2.00″ near Davis Boulevard in May 2024 — belong to the Keller side and are credited there. But damage here is priced by the panel, not the stone: quarter hail that a commuter sedan shrugs off means aluminum hoods, panoramic roofs and pillarless doors on the vehicles Southlake actually drives, plus the resale and lease-return standards that turn “cosmetic” dents into a documented deduction. The record even holds a November entry (2021) and an after-11-PM one (2017, a mile south of Lake Grapevine). We’re 20–25 minutes away via SH 114, or zero: free pickup and loaner delivery across 76092, scheduled to your hour. Published pricing (light hail $750–$1,500, typical full-vehicle claim $2,500–$8,000), direct billing, and the first $1,000 of the deductible covered on qualifying hail claims.

  • Three ring days in 2026: April 28 (Southlake itself, half-dollar), May 23 (2:16 AM, Grapevine seam), June 2 (Hwy 114).
  • Small stones, expensive panels: quarter hail on an aluminum luxury hood is a real claim — and at lease return, a real chargeback.
  • The giants are the neighbors’: the 2.50″ and the measured 2.00″ fell on the Keller side of the ring — credited to Keller’s record, not claimed for this one.
  • 20–25 minutes, or none: appointment-style free pickup with a loaner left at the house, anywhere in 76092.

The Southlake Equation

SMALL STONES, EXPENSIVE PANELS

Read Southlake’s table below and you’ll notice something honest: the town’s own entries run quarter to half-dollar. The ring’s monsters fell on the Keller side. But hail damage isn’t priced by the stone — it’s priced by what the stone landed on, and in Southlake that means aluminum hoods and doors on Range Rovers and F-150 Platinums, panoramic glass roofs, satin factory finishes that can’t be cut and buffed, and parts sheets where a hood assembly costs what a whole commuter car’s repair does elsewhere. A quarter-size round that a 2014 sedan wears without comment leaves a legitimate, claimable dent field on the vehicles this town actually parks outside — and aluminum work-hardens around every one of those dents, which is why the slow-and-warm PDR discipline on our F-150 hail page matters double here.

The second half of the equation is what the dents do when you don’t fix them. Southlake’s fleet turns over through lease returns, CPO inspections and private sales to careful buyers — the three venues where “cosmetic” hail becomes a written deduction. A lease inspector charges the panel back; an appraiser folds it into diminished value; a buyer’s detailer finds it in raking light and renegotiates. On agreed-value and collector policies — common in these garages — the documentation standard is higher still: the repair file is part of the car’s story. Our answer is the same in every case: dents mapped under proper light, matched to a dated federal entry, repaired to the panel’s own procedure, and documented to the standard the next inspection will apply.

2026, By The Record

THREE RING DAYS THIS YEAR

2026 has already written three entries into this ring. The one that counts most fell squarely on the town: on April 28, the last round of the metro’s four-day April outbreak produced “several social media photos of hail up to half dollar size in Southlake” at 5:37 PM — two minutes after the same cell finished crossing Keller from Old Town to Davis. Then came the seam entries: quarter-size a mile northwest of Grapevine at 2:16 in the morning on May 23, and quarters along Hwy 114 in Grapevine with dimes reaching south Southlake on June 2 — that evening has its own storm page. Grapevine’s cluster of 2026 hits is documented on its page, date-of-loss logic included.

Half-dollar is precisely the class that hurts here: deep enough to mark an aluminum hood or crease a roof rail on a tall SUV, shallow enough that nobody notices until the light is wrong — or until an inspector makes it their business. If a car sat outside in 76092 on April 28, five minutes of low-angle light down the hood settles the question, and a texted photo settles it for free.

The Public Record

SOUTHLAKE’S HAIL RECORD — 1″+ DAYS SINCE 2015

Each row is a National Weather Service local storm report logged in Southlake or within five miles of Town Square — a ring that reaches Grapevine and the lake to the east, Keller to the west, Colleyville south and the Trophy Club–Westlake corner north. The point-report caveat runs both directions, and in a town of gated drives and garage discipline it runs harder: plenty of Southlake hail lands with no witness posting photos, and a Keller pin isn’t proof about a Carillon driveway. Dates are what the log fixes — and claims run on dates.

March 21, 20221.00″ — quarterInch hail south of Roanoke Road in Westlake; quarters in Trophy Club minutes later

1 more day1.00″A March 2016 quarter round on the Trophy Club corner of the ring

Two honesty notes worth restating. The ring’s two biggest entries — April 2021’s 2.50″ and May 2024’s measured 2.00″ — both fell on the Keller side and live properly on Keller’s page. And Southlake’s own in-town entries cluster at quarter-to-half-dollar — which, per the section above, is exactly the class this town’s vehicles can least afford to ignore. The metro’s month-by-month math is in the DFW hail-season data guide.

The Insurance Side

A SOUTHLAKE HAIL CLAIM, TO THE STANDARD

The rules don’t care what the car cost, which works in your favor. Hail is comprehensive — no fault, nothing on a driving record. Tex. Ins. Code §1952.301 makes the shop and the parts your choice — on a leased Defender exactly as on a work truck — and that includes declining a network shop whose volume model wasn’t built for aluminum panels or satin finishes. 28 TAC §5.7016 bars nonrenewal of a personal auto policy solely over weather claims; premiums have no such shield, and the honest morning-after math — including the ZIP-wide filings that follow any storm year — is in the rates guide.

What changes at this end of the market is the documentation bar, so we raise ours to meet it: dent maps drawn panel by panel under raking light, OEM repair procedures pulled per panel, supplements argued from photographs, and a delivery file built for the next inspector — lease-return, CPO or collector-policy — who will judge the work. You open the claim (the guide walks it), pay the deductible once — with the first $1,000 covered on qualifying hail claims — and a loaner from the 50+ fleet covers the meantime. If the damage is small enough that a claim doesn’t serve you, the cash math against published prices is on the table below, and we’ll say so plainly — and for the liability-only weekend truck in the third bay, the liability-only guide gives that conversation its honest version too.

Published Numbers

WHAT HAIL REPAIR COSTS FOR SOUTHLAKE

The same published table on every DG page — no ZIP-code pricing. Depth in the DFW hail cost guide; a quick number from the estimator.

Damage levelPublished rangeNotes
Single dents (cash PDR)$50–$150 per dentPlus R&I trim labor when a panel or trim must come off for access
Light — 1–2 panels$750–$1,500The April 28 class on a steel-panel vehicle
Deep dents on 1–2 panels$1,500–$4,000Half-dollar strikes on aluminum — the upper half of the range, honestly
Several panels, clear coat intact$2,000–$5,000A full topside peppered, paint unbroken
Several panels, deep or cracked paint$5,000–$10,000+PDR plus refinish to the panel’s own procedure where paint broke
Typical full-vehicle claim$2,500–$8,000Where most carrier-paid hail claims land
Full vehicle, dense but clear$5,000–$9,000Roof, hood, deck lid and both bodysides
Full vehicle, deep / glass / cracked paint$7,500–$15,000+The Keller-seam giants’ class — glass and refinish join the PDR

Panel materials move a job inside those ranges, never outside them: aluminum hoods and doors (Range Rover, F-150, late-model GM trucks — the two-metals page maps which panels are which) price toward each range’s top because the metal work-hardens and the technique slows down. On the question nobody in Southlake wants to ask — whether hail can total a newer luxury vehicle — the honest answer is “rarely, and the math is on your side”: the will-it-total guide shows why high vehicle values keep the ratio low.

After The Storm

THE PITCH HERE WEARS A COLLARED SHIRT

Southlake doesn’t get the folding-table tents — it gets the upgraded version: “concierge paintless dent removal,” a leased truck with a wrapped logo, a pitch that name-drops the brands in your garage. The paperwork underneath is the same paperwork, and it fails the same checks: no fixed Texas address to find in March, a signature requested before an estimate exists, a warranty that travels with the crew. Our hail-scams guide lays out the nine tells with the statute behind each one — worth five minutes before anyone touches an aluminum panel with a glue tab, because a botched pull on a work-hardened hood turns a PDR job into a repaint.

Two lines to hold at the door, however good the shirt: Texas law lets you cancel any contract signed at your home until midnight of the third business day, and a deductible “handled” inside an inflated estimate is insurance fraud under Tex. Penal Code §35.02 — filed under your name, long after the truck is gone. The lawful version is dull and printed: our program covers the first $1,000 of qualifying hail-claim deductibles from our own margin, on an estimate your carrier reads in full.

Southlake Hail Questions

SOUTHLAKE HAIL REPAIR FAQ

Was there hail in Southlake in 2026?+
Yes — in town on April 28, when the last round of the four-day April outbreak dropped hail up to half-dollar size, documented by multiple social-media photos at 5:37 PM, minutes after the same cell crossed Keller. The ring added two seam entries after that: quarter-size a mile northwest of Grapevine at 2:16 AM on May 23, and quarters along Hwy 114 with dimes reaching south Southlake on June 2. Three dated events, all in the federal record.
Is half-dollar hail really worth a claim on my car?+
On the vehicles Southlake drives — often, yes. Half-dollar stones dent steel hoods and roofs and mark aluminum panels at even smaller sizes, and aluminum work-hardens around each dent, making late repair harder. More to the point, lease inspectors, CPO checklists and careful private buyers all find hail in raking light and price it against you. A mapped estimate tells you exactly what the damage is worth fixing, and if the honest answer is “leave it,” that’s the answer you’ll get.
What’s the biggest hail ever logged near Southlake?+
In the five-mile ring: 2.50 inches, two miles north of Keller on April 28, 2021, with golf balls in Trophy Club the same evening — and a measured 2.00-inch stone near Davis Boulevard during the May 27, 2024 barrage. Both fell on the ring’s west side and belong to Keller’s record. Southlake’s own in-town entries run quarter to half-dollar — the small-stone, expensive-panel pattern this page is built around.
Does hail damage hurt a lease return or resale here?+
It’s one of the most common ways Southlake owners lose money quietly. Lease turn-in inspections charge unrepaired dents back at the inspector’s rates; trade-in appraisers fold hail into a lower number without itemizing it; and on a private sale, a buyer’s pre-purchase inspection finds it every time. Repairing on your terms — or at minimum documenting the damage against a dated storm — beats every one of those outcomes. Our diminished-value guide covers the resale side in depth.
What does hail repair cost in Southlake?+
The published table, same as every DG page: light hail on one or two panels, $750–$1,500; deep dents on a panel or two, $1,500–$4,000 (aluminum panels price toward the top honestly, never off the table); several panels with paint intact, $2,000–$5,000; the typical full-vehicle carrier claim, $2,500–$8,000; severe damage with cracked paint or glass, $7,500–$15,000+. Cash PDR runs $50–$150 per dent plus R&I trim labor where access needs disassembly. Qualifying hail claims get the first $1,000 of the deductible covered, in writing.
Can you handle aluminum and luxury-brand panels?+
That work is much of why Southlake calls us: an isolated aluminum bay, I-CAR Gold Class training, slow-and-warm PDR technique for work-hardening panels, OEM repair procedures pulled per panel, and genuine parts argued in writing under §1952.301 when replacement beats repair. Satin and matte finishes are repaired to their own rules — never cut and buffed. The luxury-repair page covers the full standard, agreed-value documentation included.
Will a hail claim raise my rates or threaten my policy?+
Your policy is protected: 28 TAC §5.7016 forbids nonrenewing a personal auto policy solely over weather claims, and hail is comprehensive — fault-free, off your record, on collector and agreed-value policies too. Your premium has no statutory lock, and nobody honest promises otherwise — but most post-storm increases in 76092 are territory-wide filings that land with or without your claim. The rates guide walks the real mechanics. (General information, not legal advice.)
