WHEN IT HAILS OUT HERE, IT HAILS BIG

Most rings we’ve compiled earn their pages on frequency. Argyle and Lantana’s earns it on caliber: four of its thirteen inch-plus days reached tennis-ball size or larger. On March 26, 2017, the supercell that would batter Corinth twenty minutes later opened its account here — 2.75-inch hail in Argyle at 7:54 PM and the same size “in Lantana” at 7:59, with two-inch stones north of town in between. On June 11, 2023 — the night the metro’s giants fell — golf balls hit Argyle at 8:13 and a trained spotter logged a 3.50-inch stone in Bartonville at 8:39. On March 14, 2024, an emergency manager reported “baseball sized hail in Lantana” — the community’s second baseball in seven years — with 2.50 inches a mile north of Argyle six minutes later. And on April 1, 2024, tennis-ball hail fell near Northlake while golf balls hit the I-35W and 407 interchange.

Caliber matters doubly on acreage. Out here the F-250, the gooseneck, the side-by-side and the tractor all sleep outdoors — a barn shelters horses, not trucks — and stones in the tennis-ball class don’t leave PDR-only dimples: they crease box sides, crack windshields and break paint, pushing repairs into combination territory. PING-PONG HAIL, FOUR DAYS BEFORE THANKSGIVING

The ring’s most recent entry is the one that breaks the calendar open: at 4:49 in the morning on November 24, 2025, ping-pong-size hail was logged a mile south of Corral City — the Monday of Thanksgiving week, hours before sunrise, on the ring’s working-ranch northwest side. Nobody stood outside watching that storm. Its evidence waited on hoods and trailer fenders for whoever looked first — and ten months later, plenty of that evidence has still never been looked at properly.

That’s the practical lesson this ring teaches better than any other in Denton County: out here the season doesn’t end, it just changes shifts. A late-November pre-dawn round is exactly how a truck wears dents into spring without anyone connecting them to a date — until a trade-in appraiser connects them to a price instead. The fix is the log: match the dent field to the dated federal entry — November 24, or any row below — and the discovery becomes a documented date of loss. THE ARGYLE–LANTANA RECORD — 1″+ DAYS SINCE 2015

Each row is a National Weather Service local storm report logged in Argyle or Lantana, or within five miles of Argyle’s center — a ring that carries Bartonville, Copper Canyon, Corral City, Northlake, Canyon Falls and Robson Ranch, and touches Denton’s southwest side. Point reports mark where a witness stood, and horse country is thin on witnesses: a pasture road takes its hail unphotographed, and plenty of real storms out here never made this log at all. What the log fixes is dates and sizes — and this ring’s sizes speak for themselves.

Thirteen rows, and the honest coda: nothing at an inch or larger has been logged in the ring so far in 2026. On a record with two Lantana baseballs, a 3.50 and a Thanksgiving-week entry, quiet is a description of luck — not of climate. The Insurance Side

The rules ride the same out here. Hail is comprehensive — no fault, nothing against a driving record, on ranch policies and commuter policies alike. Tex. Ins. Code §1952.301 makes the shop your call, however the claims line frames its network suggestion. 28 TAC §5.7016 bars nonrenewal of a personal auto policy solely over weather claims. After The Storm

LONG DRIVEWAYS DON’T STOP DOOR-KNOCKERS

Acreage owners sometimes assume the traveling hail circuit skips them — it doesn’t. After a caliber event like March 2024, crews work FM 407 and Canyon Falls the same week, and the pitch out here leans on the trailer: “we’ll do the truck, the gooseneck and the RV in one go, one signature.” That signature is the product. Before anything gets signed at a gate, run it through the nine tells in our hail-scams guide — each anchored to the Texas statute that exposes it, including the rule that a contractor may not negotiate the insurance claim for repairs it performs itself.

Keep two facts saddled. A contract signed at your home — a ranch gate counts — can be canceled until midnight of the third business day, by Texas law. And a deductible “taken care of” inside a padded estimate is insurance fraud under Tex. Penal Code §35.02, prosecuted under the policyholder’s name after the crew moves counties. FM 407 does it in one road: head east through Bartonville and Double Oak, cross under I-35E, and drop south a minute on the frontage to 693 Metro Park Cir, Lewisville, TX 75057, just off Valley Ridge.
